Principal's Message

Academic Growth

The new semester is a great time of the year.
With a new semester starting it is a wonderful time for students to make goals that lead to academic success.  The staff would like to offer these reminders and supports to help students make the most of their education at Carson Elementary.

  • Showing up is a prerequisite to success in anything that we do. Data shows that students who typically have more than 5 absences have lower grades than their peers and the State of Washington considers a student chronically absent if they have 10 or more absences in a year, regardless of the reason(s).Being late to class, even occasionally can make it challenging to get all the information needed to be successful in class, as the introduction to the day’s lesson happens when the bell rings. This is just as important whether we are online or in-person.
  • Planners, and other organizational tools can help students stay on track in their class. Many families take a few minutes each week to talk to their student about their planner, or go on the Google Classroom and see the work that is being done in class.
  • Carson Elementary tries to give you many ways to stay informed on how you student is doing in class and what is going on in the school. In addition to emails and messages from teachers, the Cougar Connection Newsletter goes out weekly. Facebook posts share some of the great things that are happening around the school and our school website is another resource for information.
